Goddess Worship, Misandry and Promiscuity: Feminism in PopCulture
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful
Feminism and pop culture go hand in hand. In the 2010s, the ‘girl-boss’ era featured a carousel of celebrities urging women to become loud, side-hustling CEOs. But what is often portrayed as empowerment exploits women - selling a fantasy wrapped in anti-male messaging. The previous article Historical Origins of Feminism explored the ideology’s roots in witchcraft and paganism, alongside its aims to revive goddess worship.
This article analyses how the same themes exist within contemporary pop culture, particularly Hollywood and the music industry. The aim is to demonstrate how they promote Satanic paganism disguised as female empowerment.
Popstar Possessed by a 3,000 year old Hindu Goddess?
The music industry is filled with occultist themes and esoteric symbolism. Occult means hidden or concealed, where secret societies believe they possess hidden knowledge of the unseen. This is acquired through magical practises and rituals. In Islamic terms, this means magicians establish contact with jinn (unseen creatures) through the medium of sihr (magic.)
Esoteric symbols are veiled messages used by the occult to promote magic and paganism through mainstream media. It is conveyed by musicians, actors and entertainers whose art, appearance and performances send subliminal messages to its audience. Much of this symbolism is demonic, hellish and explicit.

Feminism is filled with occult themes, largely centred around promiscuity. Young girls are taught to shun modesty, femininity and shyness for sexual deviancy and rebellion. As a result, the persona of female musicians is often loud, expressive and sexually charged.
In the 2010s, this feminist messaging hit its peak with Miley Cyrus’ infamous 2013 VMA performance. The former Disney star made headlines with a vulgar, scantily clad performance broadcasted to millions. The goal to shed her Disney image had been successfully achieved. Parents and young fans worldwide expressed horror and confusion. Online debates rumbled about the reason for her actions, but the most common observation lingered…why did she keep sticking out her tongue so much?
During and after her pivotal performance, Cyrus adopted a continual habit of showing her tongue at every public event.
Some believed the gesture represented rebellion from her squeaky clean Disney persona, or an expression of youthful sexuality. One overlooked opinion claimed she was possessed by a female deity. Her name was Kali, the 3,000 year old Hindu goddess of War.
Feminists adore pagan mythology which inspired their writings. Their fascination is exclusively with pagan goddesses who are often depicted in mythology as bold, violent and promiscuous, constantly occupied with dominating male gods. Feminist literature cite pagan civilisations as the most empowering for women. They believed traditional religions erased a legacy of female power, ushering in centuries of women’s oppression through patriarchy.
Feminists particularly love Kali who in Hindu mythology represents sexuality, bloodlust and war. She is portrayed as having multiple arms, dark blue skin and an extremely long tongue to consume the blood of her enemies. Countless stories and paintings portray her as a bloodthirsty killer of male warriors - wearing their skulls as jewellery or holding their severed heads - many of them her lovers. (Merelli, 2020)

Many female rappers and singers channel the Hindu goddess by sticking out their tongues in album art, music videos and photographs.
The gesture is rich with occult and pagan symbolism. In feminist readings of female deities, the goddess’ outstretched tongue represents the destruction of modesty. To the feminist mind this means self expression and sexual power.
Miley Cyrus’ performance and frequent tongue wagging therefore channels Kali through a embodying a bolder, promiscuous image.

One article analyses the similarities between Cyrus and Kali:
“In general Kali is feared by those who in all likelihood suffer from a deeply ingrained fear of female sexual power. The tongue is the instrument of the voice and therefore power.“
Miley Cyrus might be consciously or unconsciously sticking her tongue out to all those who tried to control her or showed her disdain.”
Goddess Worship Meets Music: God is a Woman?
In 2018, pop star Ariana Grande debuted the song God is a Woman. The song is filled with esoteric meaning, drawing upon feminist neopagan themes. While traditional religion believes God is not like His creation, this doesn’t stop feminists from re-imagining God through a feminine lens. The lyrics state:
when we're done
You'll believe God is a woman
The women gather around to form a prayer circle, with Grande at the centre
The song teaches promiscuity and hedonism as a means to unlock one’s ‘inner goddess.’ In Western occultism, this is known as Sex Magick, popularised by famous Satanist Aleister Crowley in the 1960s. His teachings promote sexual rituals as a means to contact jinn and obtain ‘higher knowledge’. Crowley’s influence is prevalent in the music industry, particularly in the rock world influencing The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop, Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden. His famous phrase “Do what thou wilt’ believes that individuals should discover their own purpose or destiny. The slogan was donned by rapper Jay-Z in the behind the scenes video of “Run This Town”. (Brady, S, 2023)
Overall, Grande’s music video draws upon occult themes as a means to associate female sexuality with magic rituals. It shows how mass media uses feminism to promote ancient pagan ideas via popculture. Feminism was never about equality, but aims to turn women into vengeful ‘goddesses’ through weaponising sexuality to defy modesty.
Hollywood’s Misandry: The Barbie Movie Against Patriarchy
In order to remain a dominant ideology, feminism needs a common enemy. This is the patriarchy, an institution of male power, positioned as a threat to female dominance and agency. Therefore attacking the patriarchy in music, media and TV is crucial to fostering generations of rebellious women.
When The Barbie Movie released in the summer of 2023, it was a cultural phenomenon. Children and adults donned in pink clothing gleefully crowded the movie theatre, excited to see the famous doll come to life.
What was expected to be a children’s movie became feminist propaganda reimagining a world where patriarchy didn’t exist. Why feminists utilised a children’s movie to make this critique showcases a desire to influence the next generation of young girls. It does this through promoting misandry (a hatred of men) to instigate a gender war.
The Barbie Movie is set in the fantasy world of Barbieland - a world only ruled by women. It’s depicted as a paradise of global stability and peace. The menfolk are lowered to second class citizens with little rights or voice. The movie’s opening monologue justifies this premise:
“Thanks to Barbie, all problems of feminism and equal rights have been solved.”
Contrary to its claim, the movie’s ‘equality’ is rooted in undermining men. In the movie, the menfolk are banned from all leadership positions and even sports. The men - or Kens as they’re called - are confined to the sidelines, depicted as effeminate, weak and emasculated.
In contrast, the all-female regime is praised for crushing patriarchal structures. To fill a children’s movie with messages about a gender war, encapsulates the feminist belief that the sexes are in a never ending power battle. Any child watching the film will see masculinity and male authority as dangerous. The Barbie Movie caters to the female ego, teaching girls to be manipulative, controlling and dominant to gain power. (The Vigilant Citizen, 2023)
Conclusion: Rejecting Neo-Pagan Popculture
Entertainment is not neutral. Much of Hollywood and the music industry pushes feminist neopaganism rooted in shirk (idolatry) and promotes gender wars. Its musicians and actors draw upon female goddess worship to encourage promiscuity, dominance and female aggression - all re-packaged as empowerment. Many young women believe this is a healthy form of self expression, unaware their favourite movies and celebrities promote Satanism with a pink bow on-top.
For a Muslim, the messages from Western pop culture creates a spiritual crisis. Idolatry cannot co-exist in a believer’s heart built on Tawhid (Oneness of Allah). Therefore it’s essential that Muslims boycott these vices, protect themselves from Hollywood and shield their womenfolk from pop culture which aims to corrupt the soul.
May Allah protect us from the plots of Shaytan and make the truth apparent to us, Ameen.
